Holy Sheep-Shit, Batman!!1!1!!Eleven!

Jaysus, but if I didn’t get a spam-storm in the past forty-eight hours.

I swear to gawd, if I posted more than four times a month I would apologize to my host, GoDaddy.

But this kind f comment spam usually comes around when some dipshit twelve-year-old in Romania or China decides that comment spamming my blog will help their income.

I laugh at you. I’ve gotten so lackadaisical about posting that you can’t make money offa me, beeyotch!

I laugh at the bastards that think comment spam will work on my website. I laugh until I pee myself.

It’s Gotten to Me – Part 2

A continuation from It’s Gotten to Me.

So I left off where I was going to test Drupal and PHPGedView on a local server for usability and presentation.

It isn’t what I hoped.  In fact, it’s really simplistic.

For a moment I prayed that I could program to help fix it.  Then I remembered how other programming experiments went, and how I really screwed up that poor turtle that uses BASIC to direct him…

So I started searching for another modules and found the one named Family.

I installed it and…  It doesn’t make Pedigree charts.  It doesn’t even do online editing or adding of people or even merging of new GEDCOM files.

Could it work…?

It’s Gotten to Me…

The “Under-Construction” message on the parent site for my blog, www.feesl.com, has finally gotten to me. I jokingly put the image and date there waiting to hear some sort of criticism or even ribbing response, but since I put it up 2006 August 27, I have heard nothing.

Zip. Nada.

In a year and four-point-five months.

Zero. Zilch.

Either I’m above reproach, (which means some people need to grow balls,) or no one cares.

Since viewing either choice as a question means answers that I don’t wanna hear, I decided to treat both as possibilities and ignore both possibilities.  That left me with the reason I bought this domain in the 90′s: to provide a website for my family members; secure, private, and for free.   With message board or forum, family calendar for scheduling reunions, sending announcements, an interactive/user changeable genealogy resource, user blogs, and mebbie e-mail accounts.

And I’m going to go at it with the “Field of Dreams” approach — if you build it, they will come.

Great idea, huh? Now just where the aytch-eee-double-hockey-stick does one start to figure this out? After the “read-more” link you’ll be subjected to some rambling on the topic.

Please Forgive the Buggy Theme

In trying to get some last features into this modded theme, I think I may have pushed the limits on what the CSS can do in this beast.

So it looks like big, fat, hairy and unshaven butt in almost every browser out there. Well, Opera seems an exception. I’m not sure why, but in Opera it looks like it at least got a trim.

For some reason when widths are calculated the margins and paddings are not included in the width. I sometimes get the unforgiving, cynical feeling that the theme creator just decided “it works!” and called it done. Then the original theme creator went to find the strongest alcoholic beverage within walking distance of their domicile and proceeded to blow a week’s worth of pay on drowning the sorrows.

15 Days, 52 Minutes

Until I get some vacation. But who’s counting?

I need some time off. It’s been a hellish year so far, and if I’m going to survive until the end of the year with the Holiday Season, I need to relax a bit.

Rather than writing blog posts this week, I’ve been reading tons. All over the place, link-hopping and pondering the words on my screen, all from the WordPress dashboard RSS feed. Most of the time I ignore them, but for some reason I’ve started clicking them.
