On Cold Weather and Weekend Bingeing

The chill that has descended upon us as the polar vortex disintegrates and releases the polar frigidity has made streaming my go-to for weekend survival.

While keeping toasty, I’ve noticed some of the streaming services are buffering more.  Usually at the initial loading for the video, very rarely in the middle.

This past weekend isn’t the first I’ve noticed, in the beginning I noticed it on one video of four or five, and mostly on, but last weekend it seemed to ratchet up a bit, up to every other video on most services, and twice it interrupted playback entirely.   Continue reading

New Year, New Post

I’ve had this blog for…  Eighteen years, now?  And, over the years, this blog has caused me many headaches, requiring abrupt server moves as hosts shut down and DDOS mitigation console-marathons during botnet storms, HTML/CSS/PHP/MySQL coding challenges and multiple engine migrations, data loss and learning mitigation techniques, and reviewing personal life and wider connections on a daily basis.

It’s been kinda like a kid to me.  Without diapers.  Or braces.  Or having to pay college tuition for more than myself.   Continue reading
