I’ve spent all day with this new phone, and I’m still mildly cussing and swearing under my breath.
Maybe it’s time for an audiobook. Hrm, Dark Tower Vol. III seems a good choice.
Ah, better.
Why am I swearing? Even if it is the Jesus phone, it’s a new, blank, pristine, unused and untracked Jesus phone. After using my stupid Razor for, what, four years now, I have 96 contacts and 135 phone numbers to move over.
But that’s not all. I thought since I’ve had my iPod touch for three years I’d be prepared, but I was wrong. The iPod touch buttons and connectors are 50% opposite the iPhone. So, on the iPod the power button is on the right side of the top, the headphone connector is on the bottom – only the home button and the data connector are in the same place.
And what about my ringtones? Addams’ Family theme for my brother and Mom, “Woke Up This Morning” for Dad, Darth Vader’s theme for the boss, Bonanza theme for my fellow Supervisors…
I started by searching iTunes for the songs to remake those ringtones, and while downloading I started organizing apps on the various screens.
Took a break to call my Mom and talk to Dad, it turns out the phone works as a phone, and went back to work.
Well, there’s Addam’s Family, there’s Bonanza, Darth Vader’s theme, and ooh the Castlevania theme for my bro…
After transforming as many into ring tones as I could, (Oh! how evil that “This song cannot be made into a ringtone” message is,) I started working on Contacts, comparing my old phone with my Address Book and merging the two, typing names and numbers into the phone.
And now I glance up and see what time it is.
Oy. I didn’t even really notice daylight leave.
At least I had 100% signal during a brief trip to the CVS for milk and cigarettes.
I’m going to give up for the night, maybe watch a movie.
Have fun, readers.
Skåll!!!
