Wow.  Long time, no post.  Well, that’s been an overall pattern of most of my friends, and I am just such a follower of crowds.  I mean, the trenchcoat and dress shirt with tie and waistcoat and all.  ;)

What gives?  Life is just such a grind, and instead of overcoming difficulties I’ve become a whiney bitch.  I work to please other people and haven’t honestly looked to myself for a while now.  I thought moving into my new apartment would’ve kicked off a more realistic view of how I’m taking care of myself, but no – not really.  It just gave me a place to do it in.

So, I took two weeks for vacation, and I’m just taking care of things that have piled up around the apartment and resetting my mindset.  Since I’m resetting the N8-OS, why not do an OS upgrade on my laptop?

Today I woke up and shouted to the world, “Snow Leopard – here I come!”

Then I groaned, ’cause hangovers suck.

I went to the Apple Store today and picked up the OS.  I also wanted one of them wireless keyboards, since computing from my beanbag is just so much fun, but moving my laptop means I have to move my external hard drive, rearrange my printer, speakers, USB stuff, and well…

Didn’t matter, they were out, so just Snow Leopard for now.  Besides, they’re $70!  That can wait until next paycheck.  Maybe with one of them magic mice, too.

I got home and was dancing all the way to my laptop.  Took out the disc, licked it to savor the flavor, and popped it in.  And waited.

Then waited.

And waited so more.

It was the longest 45 minutes of my life, to commemorate it I made a series of reenactment photos in Photo Booth.  I’ll post them tomorrow, once I flip them all, but back from tangent-ville: once finished I have a quick-booting laptop!

I love OS upgrades for Mac.  They always have such treats hidden away.

Like iCal has stopped bitching constantly that Google calendars doesn’t respond fast enough.  (I got sick of hearing “Excuse me, but iCal needs your attention” every five minutes for hours on end if I forgot to turn off my speakers before bed.)  Mail just gets my mail now, it doesn’t sit and learn how to crochet anymore.  (I will miss the free headwear, however.)  And iTunes pops up and plays shit, it doesn’t count to fifty (in binary, read aloud by a comatose tortoise) before loading the window.

I don’t mean that Leopard was bad – not while using it.  In hindsight it was, but not while using it.

I hope Windows 7 follows this lead, too.  But I ain’t buying that until Service Pack 1 comes out.

Ooh, looks like it’s bar time.

Thanks for reading, peoples.  For all those spam-bots tracking me and posting comments, if this pause didn’t convince you this site is dead – I’m now tracking you too.  Believe me – I shall hunt you down.  Entirely legally.

Have a good night, readers.

Skåll!!!
