Overdue Apartment Update
I didn’t get to updating yesterday, because I was tired after the three trips. Today was a trip to Duluth, and after getting back I needed a nap more than anything else in the universe. (Almost anything — I’ll leave the other possibilities to the endless imaginations out there.)
But now — at long last, my quickie status update: I’m moving.
Yeah, I’m moving. As in in-progress. I didn’t get enough boxes for all my books and stuff, and I needed to get stuff out of this place so I had room to put more boxes of stuff together. Well, it’s a complicated and stupid story, one that really isn’t blogworthy.
But it’s hella cool to see my new place with a whole lotta boxes of my stuff sitting around. I was going to take pictures, but we made three agonizing trips to get as far as we did, and I don’t know about the people helping me, but I ached. (Thank you Meshtey for forcing me to accept help.)
I’ve got almost all of my books at the new place, those that remain here at Dad’s are old computer books that are out of date and may be donated to charity. The kitchenware is at the new place, unpacked and put in shelves. So are the bathroom towels and toiletries that make life so much more bearable. The hardest move: my shelves. I use planks and bricks for my shelves, in good old fashioned bachelor style, and those bricks got heavy quick. Mental guess: nine 5-foot boards and six 6-foot boards with thirty-two bricks…? Seems about right.
Next up is getting this computer desk I’m sitting at taken apart for hauling tomorrow, then getting a bedroom set. Then there’s getting the “first grocery trip” done.
Almost ready to live there. Almost.
Have fun readers. I’m back to packing & taking apart stuff.

I can’t speak to the accuracy of the brick count, but the word brick may be an inadequate description.
Those things are solid blocks or concrete and cinder!
It was a good time, all back pain included, and I’m glad I got to help.
So, when’s the apartment-warming party?
I’m game for that Loki! Or is it going to be a club house style – no girls allowed type of gathering? “bachelor pads” can be scary for us fragile girls…
